Caramel Apple Cake

 
 
Ingredients:

1 package white cake mix

1 teaspoon Chinese five spice

2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided

1 tablespoon vanilla

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

One package (11 ounces) caramel

1 can (20 ounces) apple pie filling
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350.

In a bowl, whisk together cake mix, five spice, 1/3 cup of evaporated milk, vanilla and melted butter until smooth.

Pour half of the batter into a greased 9" x 13" pan and smooth out to an even layer.

Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

In a pan over medium heat, mix together caramels and 1/3 cup of evaporated milk.

Remove from oven, top with apple pie filling and then caramel mixture (reserve some for topping later).

Crumble remaining batter on top.

Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool cake in pan then top with reserved mixture before serving.
